Ben and his American family live in a hungry ranch house where they are always wanting more. But then they travel far across the world to Kenya and visit the marvelous mud house where George and Mama George live. There, among the mango trees, they discover a marvelous lesson about what it’s like to be full of joy instead.
Quotes
April is an amazing speaker and writer! She had our students engaged the moment she started speaking and wowed us all with her beautiful book she wrote. She is very professional and very personable all at the same time. We feel honored to have had her out to our school and look forward to her coming back!

April Graney has written a wonderful book that children of all ages will enjoy. As I looked around the auditorium while April spoke to the students, I observed that they were totally engaged and listened as she shared. “The Marvelous Mud House” crosses cultures in a beautiful way and teaches some great life lessons about contentment with what you have, less can actually be more, working with a good attitude, and sharing with others who have a need.

Our school absolutely loved hearing April share The Marvelous Mud House with us. She is a dynamic speaker, and her story of joy and contentment spoke to students and parents of all ages. Our older students particularly enjoyed hearing about her writing and publishing process. Her encouragement and tips on writing were highly valuable!

The Marvelous Mud House is a whimsically-told true story of how a family learns contentment, faith, and generosity from a Kenyan mother and her son.
Through our family trip to Kenya, the Lord opened my eyes to His great love for the poor and needy of the world. He has blessed my children’s book by allowing it to be published by B&H Kids, a division of LifeWay Christian Stores and placed in bookstores across the United States.
I would love the opportunity to speak about God’s heart for the poor, share the true story behind The Marvelous Mud House, and/or do a book reading and talk about writing with students ages Pre-K through 6th grade. I am a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, and enjoy speaking to adults and teens on a variety of subjects including the Biblical basis for a believer’s heart for the poor.
